The SultanAhmet Mosque, known as the Blue Mosque by international travelers for centuries, is the last monumental example of the Ottoman golden age. Its construction took between 1609 and 1616. The most visible features of this wonder of architecture are its bold style rising under a combination of perfect domes from outside. It is usually at the top of the lists of travelers in Istanbul.The Blue Mosque is famous for its exquisite interior, adorned with over 20,000 handmade ceramic tiles in various shades of blue, which give the mosque its nickname. The intricate calligraphy, stained glass windows, and elaborate floral patterns further enhance its beauty. It was built during the reign of Sultan Ahmed I to demonstrate the power and glory of the empire, and it remains a significant site for Islamic worship and culture.
