Suleymaniye Mosque

Süleymaniye, Prof. Sıddık Sami Onar Cd. No:1, 34116 Fatih/İstanbul, Türkiye

Standing on the third of Istanbul’s seven hills, the Süleymaniye Mosque is a stunning example of Ottoman architecture due to its smoothly descending structure by semi-domes and quarter-domes. Built in the 16th century for Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent and designed by the famous architect Mimar Sinan. The mosque is part of a larger complex that includes a school, a library, and the tombs of the sultan and his wife, Hürrem Sultan. With its peaceful courtyards and amazing views over the Golden Horn, the Süleymaniye Mosque remains a symbol of Istanbul’s long and rich history.
