Süleymaniye Kuru Fasulye (Ali Baba)
KURUFASÜLYECİ ALİ BABA, Süleymaniye, Profesör Doktor Sıddık Sami Onar Caddesi, Fatih/İstanbul, Türkiye
Ali Baba is a well-known restaurant famous for its white bean stew, known in Turkish as kuru fasulye. It has a central location right next to Süleymaniye Mosque, an imperial mosque built by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent at the height of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century. Their beans come from İspir, a town in eastern Türkiye known for its high-quality beans. The stew (kuru fasulye) has a rich, comforting flavor and is best enjoyed with rice, the classic pairing among the locals. The restaurants along this street are especially popular with locals during Ramadan, when people come here to break their fast at iftar. It is an affordable alternative in one of the central neighborhoods of Istanbul.
