Egyptian (Spice) Bazaar
Rüstem Paşa, 34116 Fatih/İstanbul, Türkiye
The Egyptian Bazaar, also known as the Spice Bazaar, is one of Istanbul’s most vibrant and historic marketplaces. Built after the Great Fire of 1660 as part of the New Mosque complex, it has been a center for trade and commerce for centuries. Originally specializing in spices brought from Egypt and other distant lands, the bazaar now offers a wide variety of goods, including dried fruits, nuts, teas, sweets, and traditional Turkish delicacies. The aroma of exotic spices fills the air as visitors explore its colorful stalls, making it a sensory experience as much as a shopping destination. Interior of the Rustem Pasha Mosque, a part of the complex, offers a beautiful example of the Iznik tiles.
