Ayios Efstratios Church
Balat, Mürselpaşa Cd., 34087 Fatih/İstanbul, Türkiye
Ayios Efstratios Church, formerly a Greek Orthodox church located in what was once the Bulgarian Quarter of Istanbul, has a history that reflects the city's diverse religious past. Originally constructed in the 16th century, it was later transferred to the Armenian community in 1627 and consecrated by Isdeponos of Bursa in the same year. A marble inscription on the wall behind the main altar indicates that it underwent restoration in 1628. Today, although its religious function has diminished, its historical significance remains as a testament to the multi-ethnic and multi-religious character of Istanbul.
